Audie Finnell, Vernon Cross and Rondell Raburn of Cleveland's popular
~ String Mountain Band ~
listen as local Harry Dean spins some yarn... Mike Tankersley
listens in, too. The Pickin' Barn was hoppin' all day - and evening -
during the 6th Annual White Oak Mountain Bluegrass Festival.

Members of local group The String Mountain Band joined festival goers and jammed at
GuestLine's covered Pickin' Barn. String Mountain Band was one of the featured performers
at the Coker Creek Heritage Festival in May, and has been playing together for several years.

Alan Harold of Harrison, and Jimmy Ray Williams of Cleveland, were first
to break out their "guit-fiddles" around 10am. Jimmy Ray noted that "the cows down
yonder were already singin" as they got started. The petting zoo animals were located
close to the GuestLine Pickin' Barn and did indeed join in with their own harmonies!
Ronnie Nichols of Duncan Park, P-Nut Moore of Cleveland, and Slim Johnson of Centre, Alabama
listened to the String Mountain boys for a bit, then broke out their own instruments to
"beat & frail" (as Slim put it...) on their own. Ronnie is often found playing at the
Snow Hill Bluegrass Jamobroee" - the 1st Saturday of each month, at the Old Snow Hill School
Fire Hall. P-Nut says everyone who goes to the SHJam looks forward to Ronnie's best known
songs "Doggie-Doo" and "I Just Don't Look Good Naked - Anymore..." Ronnie tribuets true old-
time cowboy Sheb Wolly for the "Naked" tune.
Sheb was one of the original cowboys in the hit TV show "Raw Hide."
Kids found lots to do, like Daniel McClain, who adopted and took home his new buddy
"Grateful Bear" (nicknamed TIE) as a souvenir of the day.
Petting Zoo, Air Toys, Build-A-Bears, and food galore
added to the music and festivities to make
the SIXTH ANNUAL White Oak Mountain Bluegrass Festival
another great success.
Linda & Raymond Ritchie from Soddy Daisy enjoyed the glider made for 2
as they listened to shade tree pickers at the Pickin' Barn.
Linda won the Tee Shirt she was sporting in a drawing at last year's
FIFTH ANNUAL White Oak Mountain Bluegrass Festival.
