A large group was entertained
by Willy Claflin & his friend, Maynard the Moose,
at the Museum Center @ 5ive Points' Lunch & Learn -
one of the activities sponsored by the
Ocoee Story Fest in Cleveland.
Mr. Claflin explained that storytelling is more important
in our culture today than ever before.
He feels our society has mega technology and media that,
though highly informative, separates people from - other people.
He brought home his lesson that there is no substitute
for one person talking to another, putting aside the mic
so that he could feel more personal with the crowd.
Hannah Smythe, a 2nd grader from Nashville, was the youngest "teller" at this year's National Youth Storytelling Showcase. She was another feature performer at this year's 12th annual Ocoee Story Fest.
Pictured with Hannah, Willy & Maynard are
Marge Blevins, Marianne Dietrick, Maurine Olin, and Sylvia Idom.
