“ THIS WEEK IN EAST TENNESSEE”
Tracy O’Connell, GuestLine Tennessee
GuestLine Visitor Guides are placed in hotel guest rooms – preferably next to the telephone – where folks can see them first thing when they drop their bags and decide what they are going to do and where they are going to eat!
After they have fed their little tummies, they generally get around to deciding what to do next - often logging onto our website and checking out what’s going on THIE WEEK IN EAST TENNESSEE! Many of us travel with our lap-tops these days – so often folks cruise our site right from their rooms. Or they may head down to the hotel lobby to log onto the friendly hotel computer – to check email or surf our area online. So just make like a tourist today and check out all there is to do in the area this spring.
When you log onto GuestLineTN.com / Events, you are going to see a multitude of options coming up this Spring and Summer. But just for today, mostly it’s time to get out the calendar and line up what you want to do Most! So many things to do – so few weeks to squeeze ‘em all into!
March 25 - 26 Van Hargis Horsemanship Seminar
“Becoming a working partner with your horse can give you the greatest sense of peace and satisfaction that you can feel.” Van Hargis

The Bradley County 4-H Extension Service is bringing a clinician of national celebrity, Van Hargis, to Cleveland’s Tri-State Exhibition Center for a weekend of Horsemanship and life learning lessons. Saturday and Sunday, March 25th and 26th, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from one of today’s leading horse experts, how important a solid foundation in horse training - as well as everyday life – is - and how to attain it.
Van Hargis has been gaining popularity since he opened his Texas training facility in 1992, and performing seminars around the country ever since. Van uses each presentation he gives as an opportunity to share how the horse has helped him realize the important lessons in his life. You don’t even have to own a horse to get a lot out of this weekend. click here for more
April 29th Yard Sale Party & Flea Market

Clean out your garages, closets, kids’ stuff, and get ready to party while you work! Why? The Cleveland/Bradley Keep America Beautiful’s annual “HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION DAY” (quite a mouthful!) is joining the Tri-State Exhibition Center for a fun-filled day of part flea-market, part yard sale, part get rid of the hazardous waste stuff you want outa’ your house & garage… and part – PARTY!
Why is this in the THIS WEEK IN EAST TENNESSEE story – cause to really enjoy a day like this – you have to plan ahead. Have all your junk, I mean “goods-to-turn-to-cash”, ready and waiting for the big day. Then on April 29th you can neatly arrange it all in your reserved 10x10 space (see ad below for details…) get your mother-in-law or kids to watch your booth and take in the money, while you browse around the Exhibition Center and enjoy the day.
If it rains that day – no problem. The Yard Sale Party is being held at the Bess Neal covered pavilion. Rain or shine, the show will go on! If you are part of a non-profit club or organization, you can sell food items for free that day to help raise funds your cause. Again, check out the website for details. And did we mention how free it is to come that day? Well, it’s completely free to come and hang around. GuestLine will be hosting its Hay Party (hay graciously provided by our friends at the Bradley Farmer’s Co-op), and if you have an instrument, bring it and you can hang around the GuestLine Pick’n Barn, like the one we hosted at last summer’s White Oak Mountain Blue Grass Festival.
This is also the perfect time to get rid of all those things our garbage men can’t take. Because for free – all day – they will! (No medical waste or explosives, and no businesses, please) I’m gonna finally get rid of those car batteries I keep meaning to take to the land fill!
