It takes all year to get ready for the Foothills Country Fair!
One member from each of 11 Ruritan Clubs in the Cherokee District
is appointed to the Board of Directors.
The Hospitality Room at the Tri-State Exhibition Center is where
the Board begins meeting monthly - then weekly - to plan the major event.
These Board Members report back to their individual Ruritan Clubs
where help is needed or feedback requested.
These Ruritan Members worked the
Guess the Cans in the Larry Hill Ford Pick-em-up-truck Contest
exhibit at area Bi-Lo stores the week before the Fair.
They smiled, sold sourvenir discount Fair pins,
and encourage folks to sign up for the contest.
The Monday before opening day, a volunteer training session is held at the
Tri-State Exhibition Center.
Joyce Johnson, Fair Volunteer Coordinator since year ONE,
tells Ruritans old and young, tips for the upcoming Fair ... from -
how to meet & greet vendors & Fair-goers with good old fashioned southern hospitality
- to where to sign in and get their assignments.
Ruritans are hard working and enjoy their volunteer efforts.
