This visitor center is a must visit for anyone traveling through the area. The helpful staff are loaded with southern hospitality. The exhibits inside this new facility are enlightening and will introduce you to the history of the area and its people. Be sure to ask questions, as the staff seem to really enjoy having you hang around and sit a spell with them.
The beautiful 23-mile state park offers canoeing, rafting, fishing, hiking and nature photography. A scenic portion of the John Muir trail winds through the river gorge. Numberous public access sites provide boat-launding ramps. At the popular Gee Creek campround, picnic areas, sanitary facilities and primitive camping are available. Adjacent is the Gee Creek Wilderness of the Cherokee National Forest. The nearby Ocoee River is a premier white-water river in the Southeastern United States possessing Class III, IV, and V rapids. Access sites are maintained.

Turn north on Highway 411. Pass through the small town of Benton, 5 more minutes up the road you'll cross the Hiwassee River, look for Signs on the Right for Hiwassee Scenic River State Park, and on your left for Savannah Oaks Winer.
You may also go up I-75 from Cleveland to Exit 37, take Highway 163 through the small town of Calhoun, to Delano. Turn right (south) on Highway 411, and you are at the Winery (on your right) and the Hiwassee River State Park (on your left) in about a half of a mile.
Of coure, the best way to get the both of these fun stops, if through Ocoee, up highway 64, to Highway 30 into the tiny stop of Reliance, then over the famous stone Reliance Bridge, to Spring Creek Road, turn left on Spring Creek and the Visitor Center will be on your left. Once you pass have enjoyed a good visit at the Visitor Center, continue on straight to Highway 411, turn right, then almost immediately left, to Savannah Oaks Winery.
