Kevin Bacon was geting Roxanne ready for the Fair Wednesday afternoon - The Chickens Exhibit has been set up next to the GuestLine exhibit for the past 3 years. Wouldn't you know - Kevin's “banties” Roxanne & Roehoe, placed first and second in the Bantham Chicken category of the Poultry Contest. He told me he likes to fool with chickens with his Papaw Ensley. He is the son of Charlotte & Franklin Bacon, and grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Ensley.
"Little Miss Foothills Country Fair 2007", Rhiannon Fuller, used to hang around our Pickin' Barn exhibit as her little brother, Knox, played his guitar with the adults. Her mom, Erin, told me before the contest that they had to practically force her to enter the pageant 2 years ago, but that now "she kinda likes it." Rhiannon is a 4th grader at
North Lee Elementary. Her great-grandmother, Eula Jones
was there to cheer her on.
Joyce Johnson's 13 year old grandson, Cameron, took this photo of the carnival the first night of the Fair. He is the Fair's official photographer this year! Joyce & WW have been Ruritans for decades and their kids and grandkids have been fun to watch each year as they
cruise around the fairground - in the 4-wheeler
with their granddaddy!
Here WW Johnson shuttles some Kuntry Kuzins to the Front Gate
for a photo-op encouraging folks to bring their old phone books to the Fair for recycling. Richard Hughes helped take up the phone books at the Gate. Richard & his wife, Kelly & their kids are at the Fair every year. They are a hard-working Ruritan family, too. WW's grandson, Cameron, is behind the camera.
