Historic Mine Cave-In
on Burra Burra mine site
The Ducktown Basin Museum is located on the
historic Burra Burra mine site where 300 acres of denuded land has been set aside as a memorial to
the devastation of the Copper Basin.
The museum interprets the mining and chemical industry
as well as every day life in company towns.
The operations located in this region from 1850 through 1987 were the largest metal mines in the Southeastern United States.
