“Exciting Extras in store at 3rd Annual

FOOTHILLS COUNTRY FAIR  May 18 - 21”

This year’s Foothills Country Fair has some exciting things in store for us all:  National Lumberjack Championships will be held where competitors vie for national points in shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  With several performances each day, these 7-event contests are exciting and entertaining for the entire family and include log rolling, axe throwing, pole racing, tree topping and more.
Confederate Railroad will perform for the Main Event concert.  According to Fair Director, Louie Alford, the Fair’s entertainment highlight is no doubt the Saturday night concert.  Trashy Women, Queen of Memphis, and many more of your favorite CRR hits will be enjoyed, along with the popular local band The Collins Brothers.  Special guest performers Saturday will be the winners of Friday night’s
Foothills Talent competition Finals.
This year’s Fair boasts an all new KIDS ZONE.  The large covered exhibition area for children will include petting zoo, pony rides, Scout exhibits and demonstrations, the popular “A Day at the Farm” by Bradley County 4-H, earth tunnel, air toys, face painting, and wagon rides.  Friday’s “School’s Out” Celebration allows all those 18-and-under to Get In Free.
Sunday brings an Antique Tractor Pull & Show.   Saturday afternoon the 2006 Fairest of the Fair QUEEN will crown the princesses in the younger beauty pageant categories.   A new attraction, an all weekend Pick’n Barn for shade tree blue grass pickers is in store.
Other annual returning events include – a 4-H horse show & beef & poultry shows, cultural arts & crafts competitions, canine culture fest & demonstrations, commercial displays and merchandise, and a delicious variety of treats’n’eats.  The Pavilion Stage will again present local talent performing vocals, instruments, and the like.
Kids will want to log on in the upcoming months to get details for entering some exciting new arts and crafts competitions.  For more information and updates, visit

The Foothills Country Fair is operated by an all-volunteer team consisting of 10 Ruritan Clubs from Bradley and Hamilton Counties.  The Ruritan motto of “Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service” is the guiding force behind this project.  Proceeds from the Fair are used by the Clubs to fund their community service projects, thereby completing a circle that returns funds to the community by assisting citizens in need of a helping hand.
